University of York

The University of York is one of the success stories in UK higher education. Since 1963, the University of York has achieved a consistent top ten ranking in the UK and is one of just six young British universities (less than 50 years old) which appear in the World Top 100. Our reputation is built on an ethos of equal opportunity and advancement for all and academic excellence, evidenced by our rise from 18th to 8th in the 2008 UK official Research Assessment Exercise and to 5th for teaching in the 2009 National Student Survey. York is acclaimed as the most socially inclusive University in the UK’s top 10 with over 80% of undergraduate intake from the state school and college sector. The University is situated on the south-eastern edge of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
