Kathmandu, 16 August 2024 – The British College (TBC), through its Sustainability Unit in collaboration with Global Compact Network Nepal (as knowledge partner), has successfully concluded the Sustainability Literacy Course, held from 4th to 15th August 2024. The two-week program was designed to enhance understanding and awareness of sustainability issues and their relevance across education, business, and society.

The course drew strong participation, with nearly 60 regular attendees from a pool of 75 registrants. Participants represented a diverse cross-section of sectors, including academia, industry, NGOs, and civil society, making the program a unique platform for cross-sector dialogue and collaboration.

With the goal of balancing profit, people, and planet, the curriculum covered:

  • Foundational sustainability and climate science,
  • Leading frameworks like ESG, Triple Bottom Line, Doughnut Economics, and SDGs,
  • Sustainable finance and supply chain practices,
  • Tools for assessing social and environmental impact,
  • Strategic leadership through actionable roadmaps for sustainable initiatives

Commenting on the success of the program, Ms. Sunita Basnet, Sustainability Lead at The British College, said:

“This course has shown us the power of collaborative learning. The enthusiasm and commitment of our participants reflect Nepal’s readiness to embrace sustainability as a central driver of education and business.”

The British College continues to lead in integrating sustainability into higher education and industry engagement, reaffirming its commitment to the UN Global Compact and UNESCO’s Greening Education Partnership.
